PADLOCK RANCH MONARCH IRRIGATION DIVERSION STRUCTURE
Sheridan County, Wyoming
Sheridan Field Office
This diversion is located on the Tongue River
and replaced an existing diversion
that was constructed of river rock pushed up annually to divert the water.
The structure
diverts water to a sump where the water is pumped to a field irrigated with
side roll sprinklers. The diversion is a fabricated steel box structure that contains a
sluice with check boards with a stop at the bottom. The water is piped from
the diversion box to the sump and a sluice/drain pipe was installed back to
the river from the sump. The footer rocks for this diversion were concrete
blocks (made from waste concrete). The top of the footer block in the center
of the river is set at the required elevation to divert water into the
diversion box pipe.
