1997 WYOMING NATIONAL RESOURCES INVENTORY

Chart of water erosion 1987 to 1997

The average annual sheet and rill erosion by water erosion on cultivated cropland in Wyoming decreased by about 20 percent or 0.3 tons per acre per year during the period of 1987 to 1997.
This decrease in water erosion is due to the efforts of landowners to use cultivation methods and cropping systems that control soil erosion.  Water erosion is not adversely affecting the ability of the soil to sustain agricultural productivity on the majority of the cultivated cropland in Wyoming.
