SHERIDAN COUNTY EQIP PROGRAM

Some documents require Adobe Acrobat Adobe Acrobat to view the material.

How EQIP is being implemented in the County:

The Sheridan County Local Work Group has identified the following natural resource concerns as top priority:

1. Water Conservation

Supports National Priorities of conservation of ground & surface water resources, reduction of nonpoint source pollutants, and reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation. Improvements in irrigation efficiency, and cost per acre will be among the key local factors considered.

2. Grazinglands

Supports National Priorities of reduction of nonpoint source pollutants, reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation, and promotion of at-risk species habitat recovery. Estimated percent improvement in range condition, planned rest/recovery time, and riparian habitat improvement will be among the key local factors considered.

3. Livestock Waste Management

Supports National Priority of reduction of nonpoint source pollutants. Location relative to surface water, estimated improvement in runoff condition, and location relative to impaired waterbodies will be among the key factors considered.  Applications under this concern are prioritized at the State level.

4. Erosion Control & Irrigation Infrastructure Improvements

Supports National Priorities of reduction of nonpoint source pollutants, reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation, assisting producer compliance with Federal & State environmental laws, and sustaining food & fiber production.  Estimated annual soil loss, downstream water quality, safety, and hazard of economic damage will be among the key local factors considered.

5. Stream Channel Restoration

Supports National Priorities of reduction of nonpoint source pollutants, reduction in soil erosion and sedimentation, and promotion of at-risk species habitat recovery.  Impact on overall stream stability, estimated annual soil loss, and riparian buffer size & management will be among the key local factors considered.

Refer to Ranking Worksheets for more detail on key local factors.  Applications in all resource concerns will be prioritized based on National and Local resource priorities, ability to address multiple resource concerns, cost-effectiveness, and supporting management.

Eligible Practices and Cost Share Rates:

All practices listed on statewide cost list will be eligible for use in meeting resource goals. Cost-share rates will be consistent with statewide program guidelines.
