| PARK COUNTY EQIP PROGRAM Some documents require How EQIP is being implemented in the County:The Park County Local Work Group has identified the following natural resource concerns as the top priority: 1. Grazingland HealthThis local priority supports the national priority to reduce soil erosion and sedimentation from agricultural lands and promote at risk species habitat. Applications for dependable water development will be given the highest priority. A properly planned and applied grazing system is the most effective strategy to prepare for drought, adapt management during drought, and help recover from drought. 2. Ground and Surface Water Quality affected by animal wasteThis local priority supports the national priority to reduce non-point source pollution in impaired waterbodies. Waste management systems, feedlot relocation, and nutrient management will be targeted in an effort to help producers avoid regulation, and improve water quality. 3. Irrigation Water ManagementThis local priority supports the national priority of conservation of ground and surface water. Another priority is to reduce soil erosion and sedimentation from cropland. Improved irrigation efficiencies are crucial in dealing with critical water shortages. 4. Wildlife The local work group will also accept applications that address wildlife habitat and windbreaks.
Due to the large number of applications received a screening tool (questionnaire) is used to identify High, Medium and Low priority applications. High priority applications will be funded initially followed by medium priority applications depending on funding levels. Click to view ranking worksheets:
