NIOBRARA COUNTY EQIP PROGRAM

Some documents require Adobe Acrobat Adobe Acrobat to view the material.

How EQIP is being implemented in the County:

The Niobrara County Local Work Group has identified the following natural resource concerns as priorities:

1. Grazing Land Health

This local priority supports the national priority to reduce soil erosion and sedimentation from agricultural lands and promote at risk species habitat. Grazing land impacted by the ongoing drought was identified by the work group as a high priority for Niobrara County. Applications for dependable water development for livestock and wildlife will be given the highest priority. The work group also identified wind erosion due to lack of cover, invasive species, and plant community diversity on grazing land as high priorities. Applications that address these concerns, especially using a planned and applied grazing system, will be given highest priority.

2. Irrigation Water Management

This local priority supports the national priority of conservation of ground and surface water. Applications for greatly increased irrigation efficiencies will be given the highest priority.

3. Wildlife

4. Windbreaks
