LARAMIE COUNTY EQIP PROGRAM

How EQIP is being implemented in the county:

The Laramie County Local Workgroup (LWG) identified county resource concern priorities.  The priorities will help direct the LWG and NRCS in managing USDA programs in the county.  Selected priorities are listed in ranking order, highest priority first.

 1. Water Quality and Quantity (nutrient management, irrigation efficiency, runoff reduction)

2. Rangeland Health (grazing management, livestock and wildlife health and distribution)

3. Wind Erosion and its effects on crops (grass seeding, residue management)

4. Energy Conservation and Snow Management (use of windbreaks and shelterbelts)

5. Soil Quality, Community Concerns (livestock concentration and odor, flooding)

6. Wildlife Habitat

The Laramie County LWG and NRCS incorporated the above priorities into 2 ranking worksheets: High Plains Aquifer Concerns (priority 1) and General Concerns (all priorities).  The worksheets incorporate the local, state and national priorities and will be used to rank EQIP applications for available funds. See worksheets for more information.

All NRCS standard conservation practices are eligible.  Wyoming standard state practice cost rates and average cost will be used.
