FREMONT COUNTY EQIP PROGRAM

How EQIP is being implemented in the county:

The Fremont County local work group brainstormed to list and prioritize local concerns. The recent drought years and the public sentiment regarding the efficient use of irrigation water helped them to rank "Irrigation efficiency/improvements" as top priority. There are other concerns of great importance, but the demand for cost share assistance far exceeds the funding anticipated.  In short, the work group would like to fund the best irrigation improvement related projects with the funding to be received.

Priorities in Ranked Order:

1. Irrigation Efficiency/Improvements

2. Livestock grazing distribution, pasture/rangeland improvements

3. AFO/CAFO concerns/issues

4. Water Quality

5. Weed infestation (range and cropland)

6. Ranchettes

7. Streambank Stabilization
