Meet Ken Andrews

Featured Volunteer Ken Andrews

Earth Team Member Shares Many Talents

November 14, 1997, was a great day for Wyoming's Earth Team, for it was on that day that Ken Andrews, volunteer for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Cheyenne Field Office, signed a Volunteer Application.  Over 10 years later, he still provides his multi-faceted talents, experience, and knowledge.

Ken is a former vocational agriculture instructor and recipient of many awards.  An outstanding facilitator and coordinator, Ken's assistance in organizing outreach and educational events, helping with field office spot checks, serving on a variety of committees related to NRCS conservation activities, planning and facilitating meetings, and office support has been invaluable to the field office staff.

Ken's accomplishments in conservation tillage include development of a Conservation Tillage Guide Book in concert with seminars, meetings, and other guidance to land users in Laramie County interested in using conservation tillage as a tool to reach conservation goals.

The Southeast Wyoming Farm and Crop Expo in Albin received a boost from Ken’s professional events planning skills.  For the past two years, Ken has coordinated the event.  Attendance and sponsors increased each year.

In his spare time, when not serving on the Earth Team, he spends time writing.  His recent work is about medicine used during the Civil War.  He is also an accomplished woodworker.

If it sounds like Ken Andrews has many talents, he most certainly does.  The bottom line for his contribution to the agency is that his assistance has been an integral part of fulfilling the mission of NRCS.  Over the past 10 years, he has saved the technical staff countless hours allowing them to address important conservation issues as they carry out delivery of NRCS services to area customers.
